Breaking the Orientation Pinning Limit Using an External Field

Abstract

Recrystallized texture formed by preferential grain growth limits grain growth owing to orientation pinning. Thus, it is impossible to achieve both increased grain size and texture strength during initial recrystallization by using only heat treatment. Here we focus on the preparation of materials with coarse grains and strong texture. Orientation pinning can be broken by imparting extra electric free energy, thus accelerating diffusion in the grain boundaries.
