Graphene oxide discarded solution for high surface area photocatalyst

Abstract Discarded solution of graphene oxide's fabrication via Hummers' method was recycled for the synthesis of TiO2 photocatalyst on carbon fiber cloth. The composite photocatalyst exhibited a high surface area of 497 m2 g−1, and a production rate of 83.88 μmol g−1 h−1 in the photocatalytic CO2 reduction to CH4. The acidity, oxidability and complicated cation specimen of the discarded solution, which was meant to be hazardous to the environment, have been made full use of to facilitate such highly dense, 1D and anatase TiO2 nanorods on carbon fiber.
