Synthesis and physicochemical properties of a promising non linear optical metal organic crystal: Bis – L- alanato zinc (II)

Abstract An exceedingly transparent semi organic NLO active material Bis(L-alaninato)zinc(II) (BLALZ), was synthesized lucratively and grown by low temperature solution growth technique. X-ray diffraction analysis confirms that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system with the space group of P21. Fourier Transform – Infrared spectroscopic study was carried out to elucidate the functional groups of BLALZ crystal. Thermal analyses (TGA-DSC) confirmed the thermal stability of the title compound. The UV-Vis-NIR spectral study showed that the grown crystal is transparent in the entire visible region with the lower cut-off wavelength of 300 nm. The SHG efficiency of BLALZ crystal was found to be 0.3 times that of KDP. LDT value was found to be 30.49 GW/cm2.
