A new jointly authored by Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) and Cancer Research UK (CRUK) has warned that funding shortages could jeopardise the UK Government's plan to make England smoke-free by 2030. The report surveyed tobacco control leads in 127 local authorities in England. Three-quarters of respondents stated that financial constraints were threatening their activities. 2018/19–2019/20 was the fifth consecutive year in which more than a third of those local authorities that retained a budget for stop-smoking services reduced the money they made available for these services.
