Colloidal MoS2 quantum dots based optical sensor for detection of 2,4,6-TNP explosive in an aqueous medium

Abstract Facile single pot hydrothermal approach has been used to synthesize water-dispersible fluorescent molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) quantum dots (QDs) capped with 1,4-diaminobutane (DAB). The developed MoS2 QDs were investigated with different techniques and further used for selective sensing of the explosive 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) up to a limit of detection of 5 μ M . The PL intensity of QDs is quenched in the presence of TNP following the radiative energy transfer mechanism.
