Numerous methods for the determination of phosphates (H2PO4, HPO42−, PO43−, PPi) are described in the literature. However, the design of optical probes which are able to recognize specifically monohydrogen phosphate (MHP) ions, i.e. HPO42−, has been rarely considered. We herein devised an incisive chemodosimeter (FLH) for detecting HPO42− over other phosphates successfully.
