The front cover picture shows Stephensiolide F, a cycliclipodepsipeptide produced by a Serratia sp. within Anopheles mosquitoes, with the corresponding HMBC NMR spectrum in the background. We determined the structures of eleven stephensiolides with NMR and MS/MS techniques. Stephensiolides were shown to facilitate bacteria swarming motility in addition to having antibiotic and antiparasitic activity. The biosynthetic gene cluster of the stephensiolides was identified, and sequence analysis suggests it is dispersed in Serratia spp. isolated from different ecological niches.
