Soak, click, and image: “POM‐AmdU” is a new membrane‐permeable, nontoxic, nucleotide monophosphate derivative that is metabolically incorporated into zebrafish DNA by simply adding the compound to their water. The resulting azide‐modified DNA has little or no impact on zebrafish development, and it could be detected by microscopy after azide–alkyne click cycloaddition with a fluorescent alkyne.
