Protein citrullation, catalyzed by protein arginine deiminases (PADs), is a highly consequential and tightly regulated post‐translational modification. Aberrantly activated and overexpressed PADs are associated with several human diseases. Yet, what precise roles they play in specific cell types are not fully understood. Herein, a new development of clickable probes for functional profiling of cellular PADs at the proteome level is highlighted.
