AKT (v-Akt oncogene), a Ser/Thr protein kinase, was also identified as protein kinase B (PKB) (reviewed in ref. 1). There are three known isoforms of AKT1-3. All these AKT isoforms are highly conserved and are recruited to the plasma membrane where they bind to PIP3,4,5 via the PH-domain and are phosphorylated. While Lučić et al.
