Aerobic Copper‐Catalyzed Acetoxysulfenylation and Hydrosulfenylation of Alkenes with Thiols

Copper‐catalyzed acetoxysulfenylation and hydrosulfenylation of alkenes using thiols were achieved. When a reaction was performed in acetic acid using CuI‐Phen⋅H2O catalyst, the corresponding acetoxysulfides were obtained in excellent yields. This procedure could suppress the progress of hydroxysulfenylation or hydrosulfenylation. On the other hand, a reaction employing CuI‐TMEDA catalyst could undergo hydrosulfenylation through a radical process.
