Synthesis of Amides from Alcohols and Amines Through a Domino Oxidative Amidation and Telescoped Transamidation Process

Amides are synthesised from benzyl or alkyl alcohols and primary or secondary amines through a domino oxidative amidation and transamidation process. TEMPO is used as catalyst with iron ions as co‐catalyst and 1,3‐dichloro‐5,5‐dimethylhydantoin as terminal oxidant. Benign reaction conditions are employed in a multi‐jet oscillating disk (MJOD) continuous‐flow reactor platform or the classical batch approach to achieve yields of up to 90 %.
