Facile synthesis of monetite nanoparticles from basic raw materials

Abstract Nanosized calcium phosphate phase – monetite was synthetized at room temperature by simple one-pot method using only basic raw materials: concentrated phosphoric acid, calcium hydroxide suspended in water and ethanol for crystallisation and purification purposes. Synthetized rod-shaped nanocrystals were characterised by XRD, SEM-EDS, TEM, and Raman spectroscopy. This simple approach may be utilised for large-scale synthesis of nanosized monetite for various applications, including biomedical and purification technologies.
