Porous and three dimensional titanium nitride supported platinum as an electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction

The development of a catalyst that is both effective and robust is desirable, but remains a challenge for those aiming to commercialize polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Thus, a facile method is proposed to develop hierarchical and three-dimensional titanium nitride (TiN) architectures, with the robust non‑carbon material being implemented as the Pt support. The resulting catalyst (Pt/TiN) demonstrates high activity and stability, and the experimental data confirm the critical significance of the novel TiN support.
