Double distinction: A dual maleimide tagging method has been developed for both relative and absolute quantitation of cysteine‐containing peptides (CCPs) in combination with MALDI‐TOF mass spectrometry. The maleimides, N‐methyl‐ and N‐ethylmaleimide, with minimal differences in chemical structure, have been chosen to allow for the rapid tagging of CCPs with high efficiency.
