The walls of the Royal Society in London are lined with grand portraits of past presidents. The institution was founded in 1660 as a learned society for science by great men such as Christopher Wren. Today, science is being driven by equally great women. On the evening of Oct 19, 2017, an audience gathered to attend the Rosalind Franklin Award and Lecture, an accolade given to academics for outstanding work in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Introduced by Fellow of the Royal Society Dame Frances Ashcroft, prize-winner Essi Viding (Professor of Developmental Psychopathology, Developmental Risk and Resilience Unit [DRRU], University College London [UCL], London, UK) spoke about her work in experimental psychology and was presented with a silver-gilt medal.
