Michael Marmot, a leading public health expert, has censured the UK foreign secretary and Brexit campaigner Boris Johnson for repeating a claim that the NHS would benefit from at least £350m (€395m; $483m) extra income a week once it leaves the European Union.
Marmot said that the figure, which was infamously emblazoned on the Vote Leave campaign’s “battle bus” before the referendum, had twice been discredited by the UK Statistics Authority, and he accused Johnson of misleading the British people.
