Xenonucleic acids—a good thymine substitute: SELEX was used to select an aptamer that binds and inhibits, but also activates, BACE1, a therapeutic target in Alzheimer's disease, in a concentration‐dependent manner. This aptamer was obtained by using 5‐chloro‐dUTP in place of dTTP during the selection process, opening a way to a new xenobiotic.
