A novel synthesis of unsupported Ni2P catalysts with high surface area at low temperature

A novel method for preparing unsupported Ni2P(x) (x = reduction temperature) catalysts at low temperature (500 °C) was proposed, in which the nickel citrate was used as a source of nickel. The nickel citrate can greatly increase surface area of Ni2P catalyst, and promote formation of much smaller and highly dispersed uniform Ni2P particles, exposure of more active Ni sites on the surface of Ni2P(x)-L. The Ni2P(500)-L which reduced at 500 °C exhibited the greatest HDS activity, the DBT conversion of which reached 95.6%, this is an increase of 33.5% when compared to that of the Ni2P.
