In this study, a series of Zr(IV)- and Al(III)-based MOFs containing sequentially expanded 1D-channel pores were investigated for the uptake and controlled release of semiochemicals. Through pore expansion, control over the degree of uptake and release dynamics of these biological messenger molecules was achieved, with the stability of these frameworks allowing for regeneration and re-use with near identical re-release profiles.
