A domino reaction featuring C−H activation and C−N coupling condenses ortho-fluorotoluenes and imines to give non fully aromatic indoline cores, that are not readily available by standard methods. Neither transition-metal-catalysts nor high pressure conditions are required for this straightforward, base-mediated synthesis.
