This Concept article explores the current state and future prospects of incorporating atropisomeric bonds within foldamers. We first summarise the current state of this research, before discussing future directions. Excitingly, recent rapid growth in catalytic atropselective methods presents an opportunity to synthesize shape-defined chiral foldamers under catalyst control, and the thermal behaviour of atropisomerism suggests future dynamic applications.
