Replacing graphite with lithium metal as anodes can dramatically increase the energy density of the resultant lithium metal batteries. However, it is challenging to commercialize lithium metal batteries, for lithium metal anodes suffer from serious interfacial issues. This review provides a comprehensive overview on recent studies of lithium metal anodes, including interfacial issues, characterizations, and strategies.
