Effects of a Larger N-Heterocyclic Ring in Rofecoxib Analogues on AIE Activity and Multifunctional Applications

Two AIE-active analogues, 2-Pyr-ROF and 2-Pip-ROF, with different N-heterocyclic rings were synthesized. Compound 2-Pip-ROF with a larger N-heterocyclic ring showed an increase in the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) by a factor of around 10 in the solid as well as more multifunctional applications, such as mechanochromism, acidochromism, and lipid droplets imaging ability.
