Porous SiO2 scaffolds for Si containing active materials in LIBs: Relevant synthesis parameters are identified to tune specific pore volumes and pore sizes of MCM-41 porous SiO2. The scaffolds are filled with Si resulting in composite materials with nanostructured Si. These composites are successfully integrated as high-capacity active materials in LIB anodes.
