The bis-guanidinate stabilized, structurally characterized gallium dihalides (Ga−Cl, Ga−I) and dihydride (Ga−H) compounds are reported. Gallium hydride (Ga−H) is an effective catalyst for the chemoselective reduction of heteroallenes with HBpin. Moreover, Ga−H is a potent catalyst for the hydroboration of imines, nitriles, alkynes, esters, and formates, yielding the corresponding hydroborated products.
