With tailored pore environments, ultramicroporous MOF (MET-Fe) realized the molecular exclusion separation of 1-butene isomers. High-purity isobutene was obtained directly from a gas mixture, and large amounts of n-butene were collected in a mild regeneration process. Moreover, the high robustness endowed the adsorbent with excellent durability and unaffected separation performance in humidity.
