1. Design of DNA nanostructure-based interfacial probes for the electrochemical detection of nucleic acids directly in whole blood

Scientists in China have constructed a DNA nanostructure-based electrochemical sensor that uses tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs), for direct detection of biomolecules. The use of TDNs significantly suppressed electrochemical background signals compared to traditional linear DNA probes. The group demonstrated quantitative, single-step DNA detection in the picomolar range in less than 10 minutes. This work has the potential to be used to design other analytical systems.


南京和上海的研究者们构建了一种基于四面体DNA纳米结构(TDNs)的电化学传感器,可以用于生物分子的直接检测。与传统的线性DNA探针相比,使用TDNs探针可以有效抑制电化学背景信号。该研究小组成功实现了10分钟内的一步法DNA定量检测,检测限达到皮摩尔。这项工作亦有望用于设计其他分析体系。

2. A model for optical gain in colloidal nanoplatelets

US researchers studied optical gain (OG) properties in 4-monolayer thick cadmium chalcogenide nanoplatelets (CdSe NPLs), in order to determine characteristics that affect OG. Using transient absorption spectroscopy and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) measurement, the group showed that the OG threshold is lateral area independent and, for samples of the same NPL size, the OG and ASE threshold increases with their optical density at pump wavelength. The group then proposed an OG model for 2D CdSe NPLs, which may be applicable to other 2D and 1D nanocrystals.


美国的研究者考察了4层的镉硫属化合物纳米片(CdSe NPLs)的光学增益(OG)性质,以确定影响光学增益(OG)的因素。通过瞬态吸收光谱和放大自发发射(ASE)测量,结果表明OG阈值与侧面积无关,并且对于具有相同纳米片大小的样品,OG和ASE阈值随着它们在泵浦波长下光密度的增大而增加。该小组还提出了一种适用于二维CdSe NPLs的OG模型,该模型也有可能适用于其他二维和一维纳米晶体。
