An I2-catalyzed method for the synthesis of mono- and 2,3-disulfenylindoles with sodium sulfinates by using H2O2 in PEG400 under microwave conditions is presented. This simple, environmentally friendly, and odorless method enables the rapid synthesis of mono- and 2,3-disulfenylindoles in good to excellent yields in short reaction times under mild reaction conditions.
