1-(Diphenylphosphanyl)-1′-[(methylthio)methyl]ferrocene, a new hybrid ferrocenylphosphane, together with the analogous phosphanyl ether donor, have been prepared and studied as ligands in Pd^II complexes with various auxiliary ligands. These ferrocenylphosphane donors are less willing to form chelate rings than their more rigid counterparts lacking the methylene spacer.
