“This isn't on my to-do list!”, cries Heather Keller in the opening scene of her one-woman play, Chemo Barbie: My Ladybits' Journey Through Cancer. Doctor Fate, a composite character played by Heather, has just told her she will have to put her life on hold to undergo year-long treatment for breast cancer. The show, a true chronicle of that year, premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival (CA, USA) in June, 2017, but it is also this neighbourhood of body-conscious Los Angeles that provides the setting and the context for Keller's illness.
