A universal and efficient surface-amine-implanting approach is proposed to fabricate highly active nanocatalysts that exhibit superior catalytic performance for the dehydrogenation of formic acid under mild conditions. The amine species densely implanted on the pore surface of the carbon play an important role in enhancing the catalytic activity. TOF = turnover frequency.
