A series of difluorinated oxindoles that contain various functional groups have been synthesized by a silver-catalyzed decarboxylative radical addition/cyclization reaction between α,α-difluoroarylacetic acids and acrylamides. The mechanistic studies reveal that this transformation involves a free-radical pathway and the CF2 group of the α,α-difluoroarylacetic acid plays a vital role.
