Single-molecule magnet (SMM) optimization by ancillary ligand substitution on a dysprosium-based dimer is presented. Diamagnetic substitution highlights the positive impact of a strong intermolecular antiferromagnetic (AF) interaction on the SMM properties of the dimers. This interaction is further responsible for the weak isotopic effect observed for the isotopically pure derivatives.
