A series of NIR luminescent Zn1.96–xGeO4+1/2x:Mn0.04Ybx (x = 0.004, 0.04, 0.08 and 0.4) nanophosphors have been successfully prepared by a convenient and time-saving solvothermal method, which can be applied for preparing flexible, transparent and luminescent PMMA thin films.
