Orally available protein drugs: Thioether crosslinks were introduced into an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-binding affibody molecule to establish a general method for increasing stability against proteolytic degradation. All crosslinked protein variants showed increased proteolytic stability with retained thermal stability and high-affinity binding to EGFR, relative to an unmodified control.
