Super conversion: Electrochemical reduction of CO2 in aqueous solutions is usually plagued with significant hydrogen evolution. The reduction of CO2 in the supercritical phase can be tuned by adding different protic aqueous solutions, such as acidic, basic, or buffer solutions. Different selectivities are achieved and, for the first time, it is possible to convert supercritical CO2 to methanol and ethanol.
