Preferred motif: The promoter of the BCL2 oncogene presents a C-rich sequence able to adopt i-motif or hairpin conformations in a pH-dependent manner. Herein, NMR spectroscopy is used to show that the RRM1 and RRM2 domains of the hnRNP LL protein cooperatively bind to CTCCC DNA elements, regardless of DNA conformation. In addition, the binding site can be mapped on the protein.
