The coordinated dinitrogen in the W(P–P) complex can be protonated using protons from H2, split into protons and hydrides using the frustrated Lewis pair concept, under normal experimental conditions (room temp., 1 atm). The reaction progress of the N2 protonation was monitored by spectroscopic and analytical techniques.
