In The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ranjit Mohan Anjana and colleagues report results from the second phase of the ICMR–INDIAB population-based study,1 designed to provide high quality data about the prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes in India—an important first step in tackling the epidemic in a country where information has thus far been scarce.
