张兵课题组主要面向水中氢高效催化利用,从分析反应过程入手,设计与合成催化材料,调控关键步骤与优化反应途径,结合多种原位谱学技术与计算模拟研究催化材料在反应过程中的动态结构演化与构效关系,实现耦合可再生能源的绿氢制备与高效电催化氢化,并探索其工业化应用。主要学术贡献如下:
(1) 发明了合成高效电解水析氢新材料和新方法,提出了无机材料结构调控以水为氢源的电催化氢化反应新策略,建立了有机电氧化耦合电还原析氢/氢化的新体系(部分成果获2012年度中国化学会青年化学奖和2023年度天津市自然科学一等奖)。
(2) 提出了水为氢源和氧源“空气电氧化合成硝酸”和“硝酸根电还原合成氨”的人工固氮的绿色新途径,发明了耦合电解水低温低压合成绿氨新方法与新技术。
(3) 创新了水为氢源的双组分电催化氢化-偶联新方法,以氮氧化物为氮源,实现了酰胺、肟和氨基酸等C–N键的构建。

Soc.外封面等。相关论文得到诺贝尔化学奖得主等学者在Science、Nat. Chem.、Nat. Rev. Chem.、Nat. Rev. Mater.等期刊上的正面引用和评价,被Nat. Chem.、Nat. Sustain.、Nat. Synth.等期刊进行专文介绍(News & Views)。近五年他引23000余次,单篇最高他引3100余次。
