个人简介

Fan Zhang received his Ph.D. degree in 2008 from Fudan University followed by more than 2 years postdoctoral experience (2008-2010) from the prestigious, world leading laboratories in University of California at Santa Barbara (Galen. D. Stucky's group) before joining as an associate professor in the Chemistry Department of Fudan University in 2010. He became a full professor in Fudan University since 2013. Prof. Zhang has authored a number of book chapters, patents and more than 90 peer-reviewed research papers in international journals with the high impact factors i.e. Nat. Nanotechnol., Nat. Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Nano Lett., Adv. Mater., ACS Nano, Small, Chem. Mater..

Our vision in integrating biology and medicine with micro and nanotechnology can be categorized into two broad areas, namely how micro/nano-fabrication can help solve problems in life sciences (such as diagnostics, therapeutics, and tissue engineering), and how we can learn more from life science to solve important problems in micro/nano-science and engineering (such as bio-inspired self-assembly, etc.). This is schematically shown below. Molecular Bioimaging For the past few decades, fluorescence imaging mainly locates in the visible to NIR-I region (650 - 950 nm). The short wavelength (< 1000 nm) results in poor photon penetration depth. Compared with the visible and NIR-I light, second near-infrared (NIR-II, 1000 - 1700 nm) light can penetrate more deeply into biological tissues as less light is scattered at this long-wavelength window. NIR-II molecular fluorophore is the cornerstone of NIR-II fluorescence imaging. Recent years have witnessed a fast-increasing shift to the use of NIR-II fluorophores for in vivo imaging.
