NMR Spectroscopy, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biophysics, Structural Biology Our research is focused on revealing the transport mechanism of membrane proteins through determination of their structures. Membrane transport proteins regulate cellular events by acting as gatekeepers of ions, drugs, and other essential molecules. Our broader interest is in engineering new drugs and proteins that elicit tailored biological responses. In order to characterize these challenging systems, we primarily rely on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (solution and solid-state NMR).
