There are 2 million Canadians who have chronic kidney disease. Despite advances in medical technology, the mortality rate of chronic kidney disease is still high. We need to improve the survivorship in patients with CKD, by understanding the pathophysiology of the disease and that associated with its treatment. Being trained in both Medical Biophysics and Clinical Nephrology, I have discovered novel biomarkers and developed advanced non-invasive imaging techniques to study renal disease. My first academic appointment was as an assistant professor in July 2013. At this early stage of my career, I have demonstrated strong and dedicated research productivity, highlighting my ability to be a valuable world-class researcher. I have been supported by the Lawson Health Research Institute and the Kidney Clinical Research Unit and have established multiple collaborations with both local colleagues and those at other academic centres. I have also been awarded multiple peer-reviewed grants. My overarching goal is to evolve and develop methods to improve kidney care, and create an environment to nurture new researchers using cutting-edge technology and imaging strategies.  My clinical and research expertise in dialysis, plasmapheresis, biophysics, and chronic kidney disease have allowed me to forge a unique translational research path that integrates both basic fundamental research and clinical endpoints.
