My background is that of a Chemist/Biochemist with many years of teaching experience in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry and forensic toxicology. I have acquired many practical skills in the analytical sciences, including use of UV/visible spectroscopy, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy (including 2D), mass spectrometry, high-pressure liquid chromatography, gas-liquid chromatography and associated hyphenated techniques with mass spectrometry. From 2005 until 2013 I held managerial responsibility for the Physical Sciences Team within the Department of Pharmacy. I recently transferred to the newly formed School of Biology, Chemistry and Forensic Science with a remit to develop a bespoke BSc Chemistry degree course. This follows on from my experience gained in developing Pharmaceutical Science, Forensic Science and Pharmacy courses within the University.
