个人简介

I am Associate Professor in Gerontology at the Centre for Innovative Ageing (CIA) at Swansea University and heads-up groups Environments and Ageing research strand. I am Deputy Director of OPAN Cymru, an initiative to develop and enhance research, policy and practice for older people. I have a particular interest in ageing, travel and transport, addressing technological, environmental, health and sustainability contexts of transportation and built environment studies. Prior to joining CIA I was Senior Lecturer in Traffic & Transport Psychology with the Centre for Transport and Society at UWE, Bristol. My research addressing ageing and transport spans four interconnected areas:- (1) Attitudes to transport and travel (2) Older people, travel behaviour change and health and wellbeing (3) Giving-up driving for later life (4) Road user safety and ageing I've also been involved a variety of other built environment, mental health and shipping projects. I have advised the Parliamentary Council for Transport Safety on older people’s transport issues and am a member of the British Society of Gerontology. My research on older people and their travel and driving behaviour has involved several invited International and national presentations at conferences and invited presentations to the House of Commons and House of Lords. I have appeared on BBC TV and UK and Swedish radio stations on the subject.
