个人简介

I am always open to discuss possibilities for postdoctoral work and collaborations. Dr Wafa Al-Jamal completed her BSc in Pharmacy (Honour) from Jordan in 2003. She was awarded an Overseas Research Scholarship Award (ORSA) from the University of London to pursue her PhD under the supervision of Professor K Kostarelos, at The School of Pharmacy, University of London (now known as UCL-School of Pharmacy) (2004-2008). Her PhD research focused on developing novel liposome-based structures for combinatory therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. In 2008, Wafa joined UCL School of Pharmacy as a research fellow focusing on live animal imaging and evaluating organ biodistribution of a variety of novel gene delivery vectors (Adenovirus, liposomes, nanoparticles, quantum dots, dendrimers and carbon nanotubes) in vivo. She also acted as the scientific manager of The Nanomedicine Lab’s partnership in FP7 SONODRUGS project (2008-2012). Within SNODRGUS project, Wafa worked in partnership with Philips Research Eindhoven and other 15 European partners on developing novel temperature and pressure-sensitive delivery systems for oncology and cardiac applications. In November 2012, Wafa was appointed at The Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King’s College London as a senior research associate, focusing on evaluating the behaviour and the efficacy of personalised nanomedicines to fight cancer. Wafa is currently a Prostate Cancer Research Fellow working on developing nanomedicines to target metastatic cancer.

研究领域

Wafa’s main research interests focus on engineering novel nanomaterials for biomedical applications. Her current research, in Cancer Nanomedicine, aims to design smart vectors to deliver a wide range of therapeutic agents and targeting moieties, and to fabricate multifunctional nanoparticles for combinatory therapy and theranostic applications. Her long-term research career is to facilitate the translation of nanoparticle-based therapeutics from the lab to the clinic. Wafa was the GSK Emerging Scientist Award winner for 2015 for her contribution in the field of Cancer Nanomedicine.
