个人简介

Xu Hou received his B.S. degree (2006) from Sichuan University, China. His scientific interest was materials of tissue engineering. He completed his Ph.D. (2011) at National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, China under the direction of Prof. Lei Jiang. His scientific interests were focused on the design and fabrication of biomimetic nanochannels. He did postdoctoral research in Prof. Joanna Aizenberg’s group at Harvard University (2012–2015). Later he did the collaboration research as a visiting scientist in Prof. Ali Khademhosseini lab at Harvard Medical School. He joined in Xiamen University in 2016, and he is the Principal Investigator of Bio-inspired Smart Multi-Scale Pore/Channel Group at Xiamen University as a full professor at both College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and College of Physical Science and Technology in Xiamen University. His current researches focus on bio-inspired and smart multi-scale pore/channel systems, membrane science and technology, micro/nanofluidics, colloid and interface science, physical chemistry, electrochemistry, nano/micro fabrication for energy-saving and biomedical applications. In 2017, he was selected as a Minjiang Scholar for Popular Science (first batch). Now he is a Chief Scientist of National Key Research and Development Program of China, and also the leading scientist for Special Project of Strategic Emerging Industries from Fujian Development and Reform Commission. Meanwhile he was invited as an industrial development consultant of Zhangzhou City. As a researcher, Xu has published 2 Books and 55 research papers, such as Nature, Nat. Rev. Mater., Nat. Comm., Sci. Adv., Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., ACS Nano, Chem. Commun., Adv. Funct. Mater., and Small, etc. H-index: 28, Total Citations > 3400. In 2013, he published his first academic book at Springer for recognition of outstanding PhD research and got the Springer Theses Prize. In 2014, he received the Harvard Postdoctoral Award for Professional Development, in honor of excellence and achievement in academic research. He has been awarded 2014 SciFinder Future Leader in Chemistry Program of the American Chemical Society. In 2018, he received the Chinese Chemical Society Award for Outstanding Young Chemist. In 2019, he received Young Investigator Award of Colloid and Interface Chemistry, and was selected to represent 100# Fm in Periodic Table of Younger Chemists of IUPAC and 33# As in Periodic Table of Younger Chemists of China.
