Hua Wu Tenure track associate professor Asymmetric catalysis and chiral drugs synthesis
Hua Wu is the Principal Investigator (PI) and doctoral supervisor of a research group at the School of Pharmacy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and has been selected into the National Overseas High-Level Young Talents Program and the Shanghai Overseas High-Level Young Talents Program. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Liu Zhu Gong, then conducted postdoctoral research at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland with Professor Jieping Zhu as his mentor, and joined the School of Pharmacy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in May 2021. His research interests cover rearrangement chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, and asymmetric catalysis; he has so far published 33 high-level academic papers, including 1 in Nature Chemistry, 3 in Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), 4 in Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and 1 in Advanced Sciences as the corresponding author. He has won awards such as the 2024 "Thieme Chemistry Journal Award" and the President's Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, presides over general and youth projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and serves as a young editorial board member of Chinese Chemical Letters.
