Xiaheng Zhang Assistant Professor Novel Synthetic Methodologies, Photoredox Catalysis, Transition Metal Catalysis

Xiaheng completed his Ph.D. studies in Organic Chemistry at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry in Professor Biao Yu’s lab, where he finished the first total synthesis of the complex hexasaccharide Periploside A in a total of 76 chemical steps. Then Xiaheng moved to the US to join Professor David W. C. MacMillan's lab at Princeton University. There, he developed several cross-coupling methodologies, including decarboxylative sp3 C–N coupling, one step three-component radical coupling of [1.1.1]propellane, direct aldehyde C−H arylation and alkylation, deoxygenative cross-coupling of alkyl oxalates. Currently, Xiaheng is an Assistant Professor at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study) 2005‒ 2009 B. S. in Chemistry Department of Chemistry, Sichuan University 2009 ‒ 2015 Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry.
